Our key partners from 2003...
Ghana AIDS Commission (GAC)
When HIV/AIDS surfaced in Ghana in 1986, the Government of Ghana through an act of parliament created the Ghana AIDS Commission to coordinate the various, usually ineffective, public sector efforts to create awareness about the menace. Now there is some focus. Awareness is increasing, but the rapid rise in HIV/AIDS incidence appears to be continuing.
Abusua Foundation has worked with the Ghana AIDS Commission on the Multi-Sectorial HIV/AIDS Programme (MSHAP) by supporting women and youth with HIV/AIDs on the care and support componet of MSHAP.
German Development Service (DED)
The German Development Service (DED) is the first international government donor to Abusua Foundation. The DED has worked with Abusua Foundation to train local governement actors, youth and prisoners under our Prison Reformation and Rehabilitation project. DED also funded the piloting of the Youth Alive! project.
Abusua has also supported DED in its projects in Twifo Praso and assisting in the stationing of Development Officers from the service to the Central Regional Coordinating Council. We have also received volunteers for our AVIS programme in 2008, and initial funding for the Youth Alive! project.
Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA)
In 2008 we added OSIWA to our growing list of funders. They are currently funding our youth-run, youth managed newspaper - Youth Alive! See what OSIWA does.
