Discussing the way forward
Capacity Development Centre (CDC)
The CDC programme aims to train youth in university and professional level courses in project management, NGO management, and youth leadership. In conjunction with the School of Business at the University of Cape Coast, the UK based Africa Executive and the West African Civil Society Initiative (WACSI), we hold training courses at our office in Cape Coast and around Ghana on a quarterly basis. For more info about these courses contact us at cdc@abusuafoundation.net or +233 (0)332134927 or +233 0 267205841.
Abusua Youth Resource Centre (AYRC)
With internal funding, we hold monthly computer/ICT training courses with underprivileged youth from Ooiem Orphanage and Baobab School. Through these courses youth are trained in Microsoft Office, web search engines, multi-media programmes, design software and touch-typing. These courses are held monthly at our resource centre in Cape Coast.
Kwaprow Malaria Initiative (KMI)
Started by one of our Public Health volunteers, Miss Krystal Tomlin, the Kwaprow Malaria Initiative seeks to evaluate the attitudes of the community in Kwaprow Village towards malaria, and to create an implement an advocacy and education campaign based on those findings. Currently the project has collected data from the community and our current public health volunteers are making recommendations towards future programming. This project is ongoing and our Cape Coast public health volunteers are actively involved in its implementation.
Youth Alive! Youth Magazine Project (YA!)
The Youth Alive! magazine project was started in 2008 with a small grant from the DED. With additional funding from OSIWA in 2009 we have been able to launch the magazine website www.youthalive.net and to publish 10 issues of the Youth Alive! magazine. Through this project we have held 12 workshops in 6 regions of Ghana, and worked with over 1000 youth. The magazine still lives on through the web version, and we hope to publish more issues in 2010.
The Abusua Civil Society Incubator (Abusua-CSI)
