In 2002, when the nucleus of Abusua Foundation was formed, our greatest vision was to create a local organization with international influence. We envisaged that the name Abusua “Foundation” must re-enforce itself and not be just another NGO, but a grant making one. This meant building structures for the organization so that it relied less on donor funding. Since 2006, we have resolved to pursue an agenda of self-generated funds. From then on, our operation has been geared towards preparing and applying ourselves for this prodigious responsibility. We have consistently proven we are capable of this task, from re-branding and moving offices to developing projects that contribute directly to building the human capital of youth across Ghana. Thus far, our internship placement program has provided us with the funding necessary to cover all basic administrative fees, rents, and salaries to both Abusua employees and youth workers.
However, we are currently in the process of developing three new projects for our youth, aimed at providing sustainable solutions for long-term job and wealth creation. These new projects require funds beyond our current scope, making it necessary to reach out and seek donor support. So in 2011, we are asking for your support as a step towards strengthening these three projects. External support will allow us to broaden the scope of our services provided to the youth, and to expand our physical capital in order to promote Ghana’s human capital. We ask that you support Abusua Foundation with monthly or one-off contributions.Your donation will go directly towards our three new projects:
- The Abusua Sustainable Organic Farm Project
- Abusua Civil Society Incubator Project and
- The Judith Thompson Memorial Youth Initiative
